Listen to your heart
I've wondered how I should or could make this process worthy, both for me and for you. I'm talking about this process of starting a blog, even though I'm probably 10 or 20 years late to the party.
And then an idea came to mind: what if I gave you some backstory to some of the messages from the Universe that you can find on the website?
I opened it up, clicked "Give me a sign", and there it was. A sign from the Universe that starts with "Listen to your heart", and then it randomly talks about it being a Roxette song. So good luck now, getting it out of your head.
Ever since I was a small child, I really loved Pocahontas. I had no idea why, but it spoke to me in a wild way and it stuck with me, somehow. Well, last year I actually decided to re-watch it and it absolutely clicked. Pocahontas' unwillingness to stick to what was envisioned for her life. Grandmother Willow's absolute wisdom not only in that "Listen with your heart" song, but with this as well:
"All around you are spirits, child. They live in the earth, the water, the sky. If you listen, they will guide you."
And of course, that cute raccoon, Meeko, that loves food just as much as I do... Suddenly it all made sense. As if I'd seen a preview of the life I'd live when I was just a small child. Reflecting upon this film, as an adult, has opened a whole new door and boy! Was it rewarding!
Just like Pocahontas, I have been paddling through my life, unaware of what crossroads — crosslakes? Is there even a word for this? — I would stumble upon, guided by what others told me, decided for me, wanted for me. Because they thought it was the best. But I have to be completely honest with you: your journey is not about what others want for you. It is about what your heart wants for you.
And this is the challenging thing, I can tell you. Sometimes your heart wants some things that just don't add up, or make any sense. And this is why it's so difficult to keep everything flowing smoothly. And this is why I had to make a website that would give me signs from the Universe, to tell you the truth...
Sometimes your heart longs for what no longer serves you. Sometimes your heart cries incredibly loud for things that no longer exist. But other times, your heart can tell you loud and clear what your path is.
It is what makes YOU happy.
Listening to your heart, more than listening to those wild and crazy invasive and intrusive thoughts or those ideas other people have of or for you, is one of the best things you can do to yourself.
To give you some insight into my crazy hell hole of a life... I've never wanted to have a degree.
Studying because I HAD to wasn't for me. But I was persuaded by society and everybody surrounding me. Telling me that if I wanted to be somebody in life I had to have a bachelor's. That I needed it to start working. That it was ReAlLy ImPoRtAnT fOr My FuTuRe.
Well. Joke's on them: it took me 8 fucking years to finish a 3 year degree in art history which, as my mother told me, is "what princes and princesses study". Well, guess what, mom? Unless my name is Mia Thermopolis and I'm actually living The Princess Diaries, I believe I'm not a Princess — well, I'm a queen, but that's different! I totally erased half of what I've learned during those painstakingly difficult years from my mind. I'm employed in marketing which, I don't know if you're aware of this, has absolutely nothing to do with art history. And my career path could have been the exact same, had I not gone to university. (Even though I would not have lived the experiences I've lived, so, not complaining here. Just trying to prove a point.)
So, to rest my case:
Listen to your heart when he's calling for you
Listen to your heart, there's nothing else you can do
I don't know where you're going and I don't know why
But listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye.
